Down Time

To ease from the stresses of the week. My mentor took a group of fifteen students down to a local laser tag arena. It was so much fun. Then five of us from the Ivy League connection went down to a local diner to eat hamburgers. Now were off to the summer college dance!!

Have fun! I also want a report back with who has the best moves on the dance floor!!

I am glad that you all got a chance to get away from the stress. You all have worked incredibly hard and you are to be congratulated for your efforts. Remember, this journey is not about the grades, but about the experience. No matter what you will be the better person for coming this way and I am especially proud of you Wendy for embracing the blog and keeping us informed.

I have always told everyone that you have a great attitude and that you have the biggest heart. Please know that we will continue to support you in your educational journey. It is not too often that we meet young people that have your maturity and grace. You have perserved through adversity and have become a more "enlightened" individual because you have accepted the challenge of learning at a world renowned institution with the best and brightest.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We are better for it.

Enjoy the dance with your friends.

On another note, I am posting my comments about Joseph on this post. For some reason, I am unable to respond to his initial post.

Joseph, good luck on the six page paper. I am glad that everything is going well and it looks like you had a chance to get extra sleep. Enjoy the days where you can sleep until 2:00 PM. Those days will soon be numbered.

I am also glad that you observed how students live during College. Yes, when you start college in two more years you will see a lot of take out boxes. Finally, I was glad that you had a discussion about ethnic bias. Let me say, it is real and this is a serious topic that merits a lot of discussion. I am glad that you have had a chance to consider the issue and its ramifacations. Here in the Bay Area we take diversity as a given but this is not the case in many places. Please let me know if the Cornell program is as diverse as you had thought or if it lacks diversity. Also does the program have diversity based on socio-economic status.

I wonder how many other students that are at Cornell are part of a sponsored program. I would find that information useful.

Take care and I hope you go to the dance as well.
