Burritos!!!!

I just had 2 Spicy Beef Burritos! They were good and yummy to my tummy. Out here in Ithaca, especially at Cornell you get hungry when dinner closes at 7:00PM. So the best thing to do is go out and eat, or buy food to bring in to your room. Today in the morning I got to sleep in and rest. Then I woke to go to breakfast with Yoline. After that I went to the library to finish up my paper. Then later around 8:00PM I went to a writing workshop where they gave me feedback on my paper. It was really helpful. Out here you have to take advantage of this kinds of things. Finally I'm resting again and like I said, I have a happy stomach. Oh... and drinking a lot of water is good too to rehidrate your body and have energy throughout the day. Well I have to go now, and rest my head on my pillows. Bye bye!

I am glad that you had two nice spicy burrito's. I am on my way to have a nice Mexican meal myself. I hope that Ithaca has good Mexican food because we have plenty here in the Bay Area.

More to the point of your post that has my attention is your willingness to tap into the support services that exist on campus. A very smart move to utilize the writing center. When I was at UCLA I quickly learned how having another set of eyes on my paper results in better grades. So it is good that you have learned this as a high school Junior. Please keep us posted on the results of your exam that you took last Thursday.

After you get your exam sit down with Ms. Neal and have her look it with you. We want to have her see what the TA is asking and how you can improve your performance. I know that you have worked incredibly hard over the last two weeks and that you will give your very best effort during the final five days.

I also want to remind you that a College Admissions Workshop is being held on campus tomorrow from 2:30 PM to 3:45 PM. You should attend the workshop and have your questions answered about what it takes to get into an Ivy League School.

Thanks again Ana for sharing your thoughts and letting us know that you got a little taste of home right there at Cornell.

Take care.

I can't figure it out, Ana, how people like you and Wendy--both with svelte figures--seem to be fixated on food so much. Don't get me wrong--I'm rather fond of a good meal myself but my figure shows it--all 270 lbs worth--while you and Wendy remain so slim.

I never could figure it out: how is it that there are out of the way places in New York that are able to provide decent Mexican food? I mean, it's a full 1600 miles to Mexico and the Northeast isn't known for having a large Mexican population. They may have a fair number of Puerto Ricans and maybe a handful of Cubans but to compare the cuisines from Mexico, Cuba and Puerto Rico would do all a disservice. You can watch the how-to TV shows and you can read the recipes in the magazines but unless you have people that are familiar with the culture, you just can't prepare the food in the same way. It's like going to Montana and trying to find authentic Italian food or to Florida and expecting authentic Chinese food.

In any case, I'm glad you found a good place to get a good after-hours meal. This is yet another sign of just how well you've adjusted. Anyone that's ever been to college will tell you that just as important as learning how to get the most from your instructors, learning how to survive after the kitchen closes is equally important. Every college town has their own versions of Top Dog, Blondie's and Kips and finding them right away can make the difference between success and failure while at college.

Sounds like the school's leaving an impression on you and that you're leaving an impression on you.

Have fun. You have but a few days left to soak it all in.
