So our first week of Summer College is officially over, at least as far as class goes. We still have a ton of work, including reading forty pages of Locke (which I'm actually looking forward to), and an essay on Plato's view of democracy - now that should be interesting... We've made a lot of friends since we've been here and, for me at least, it's been one of the best parts of the whole experience. Esther and Lawrence are from Canada, Gabbi is from Iowa, and Katie is from New Jersey - and that's only about half of the people we've met. Yesterday was a real treat, as we don't have class Friday afternoons, so we all got to celebrate by taking a trip to the mall and going to see a movie. (The Love Guru was HILARIOUS!) Today is definitely going to be an adventure, since it'll be my first time doing laundry. - Wish me luck...
Anyways, that's all for now, time to go to brunch!

As someone that does not hesitate to provide Charles and Madeline with commentary as requested (or not), I am definitely going to suggest that we invest in an orientation seminar on laundry.
Laundry seems to be a recurring theme with just about all of the ILC charges year after year.
I know I can't be the only one that ever had to do my own laundry when I was growing up. Has the world denigrated to the point where we have to send our kids off to an Ivy League school for them to learn how to do their laundry?
It used to be that scholars would bemoan the state of our college entrants in the fact that so many of them had to take HS English in their first semester of college. Now, it seems, that HS English is a lesser concern having taken a back seat to understanding the difference between mixing coloreds with whites (this coming from a guy who has nothing but pink underwear due to some unexplained mixup with some red towels).
We're glad you're all having a good time because it's obvious you're all getting a lot out of the classes you're taking as well. There always has to be a balance and it appears as though many of you have found it.
You need to do us a favor, Theresa, and do your best to brow beat your compadres into joining the blog. We appreciate what we're reading but we're reading from a smaller group than what we sent. The others haven't run off, have they?
